Originally from Yorktown, Virginia, Mara Lucas has spent nearly a decade and a half helping to shape the Ambassador experience at SNOW. As SVP of Ambassador Services, she oversees the Ambassador Management, Coaching, and Recruitment teams—three groups united by a single purpose: ensuring every patient Ambassador feels supported, prepared, and empowered to share their story.

Mara’s journey to SNOW began with her father’s diagnosis with a rare form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. At the time, she was five years into a career in education, ready for a change but uncertain what came next. A close friend, already part of the SNOW family, shared the company’s mission—and something clicked. “I was inspired by my dad’s journey and drawn to the idea of helping others share theirs,” she says. “I interviewed, was hired, and the rest is history.”

A True Labor of Love

Among the many moments that stand out in her 14 years, one in particular remains close to Mara’s heart: the work SNOW did with the totally blind community living with Non-24 Hour Sleep-Wake Disorder. “We all worked hard to understand the needs of that community,” she recalls. “We trained hotel and venue staff on how to interact with and serve individuals who are totally blind. It was a true labor of love, and I remain inspired by those Ambassadors to this day.”

That mix of compassion and operational rigor defines Mara’s leadership. She’s known for rolling up her sleeves and working alongside her teams to solve challenges in real time. “What motivates me most is people,” she says. “Whether it’s our Ambassadors, the patients we serve, or the colleagues I work with every day—I love being in the trenches, solving problems together to deliver the best possible experience.”

The Dance Between Work and Life

What many might not know about Mara: she has a dance background and, as she admits with a grin, “was known to tear up a dance floor in my youth.” That creative energy still shows up in her work and her life.

Outside the office, travel is her favorite way to recharge. “I love exploring new places with my family,” she says. “Exposing my kids to different cultures, foods, and people—it’s just as important as formal education.” Whether she’s crossing time zones or enjoying a simple weekend trip, Mara’s goal is the same: to see the world through her children’s eyes.

Advice from the Ambassador’s Ambassador

If she could offer one piece of advice to new team members, it would be simple: “Be humble. Be a sponge. Listen, learn, and observe.” It’s a philosophy that’s guided her own growth—and one that reflects the core of SNOW’s culture: empathy in action.

Fourteen years in, Mara still finds meaning in every connection and challenge. Her story is one of heart, persistence, and purpose—a reminder that when you lead with empathy, you don’t just build teams. You build trust.
